Today I have released, Dubi Ogbonna, Rogan McGeorge and Deakan Napier. It is purely a managerial decision that myself and Chris Dear have come to.
Rogan, whilst a quality footballer, doesn't work hard enough for the team and unfortunately, due to the form of Adam Millson and Steve Reid, opportunities in his favoured central position were limited. He was becoming increasingly unhappy, so I have decided to release him so he can seek regular football.
Deakan, in my opinion, started well, but failed to live up to early expectations and although, like Rogan, he's a great player, unfortunately it's time for change.
Dubi is a very talented footballer who could no doubt play higher if he applied himself better. He's a colourful character, but very individual and I've decided that it's time for us to go our separate ways.
Another factor in myself and Chris' decision was that all three lads haven't attended training when required. They have only turned up to one of the last four sessions, which is unacceptable.
The decision to release these players has been made for the unity of the squad and as usual I have been totally honest and will continue to do my best for Wisbech Town Football Club. Although this may have come as a shock I believe it was the right and only decision that could be made. Please trust me on this.
I will inform you of additions to our squad in due course.

Thanks for the honest response, although I think you held back on a few 'home truths' for Dubi.

Not an easy job managing a large squad who all want to play. Got to wish the lads good luck in the future and thanks to Rogan. Dubi should you ever become a team player you will go far.
As for Apps and Dearo. Keep it up, keep the faith.

Pity about Rogan, would like him to have stayed, not bothered about Dubi especially after his antics on Sat, an embarrassment for the club, Napier had speed but sadly achieved very little so agree with Apps on those 2.

Managers are paid to manage...They have to take tough decisions....and full marks to Apps for stating his reasons.......The other side of the coin is that managers are judged on results....so we will have to see who he brings in and how quickly we shoot up the league table.....
Disappointed for Rogan as he's a quality player and can't agree about any lack of effort. Dubi had begun to lose the fans a while back and apparently really blew it at Gornal. Deakan is another highly talented player...but it was maybe the wrong club...wrong time and system of play for him. Good luck to all 3 .....

Hard management decisions. Agree with decisions re dubi and deacon not
so sure about rogan. KEEP IT UP STEVE being a manager in any walk of
life is about making decisions not always popular but almost always
necessary.
Chas you have aperfect right to express your opinions but reading some of
your past posts Have you got an axe to grind? Maybe I read you wrong but
It reads that way to me.

If it had been my decision, he would have gone quite a while ago. Constantly off-side, wouldn't pass the ball and had some of the most unbelievable missed chances when in front of goal. When he went down on the floor he would just sit there, then eventually get up and wander back. Fans have already described his 'performance' at Gornal as embarrassing to WTFC. Leading goalscorer is always on the cards when you are played in that position. The point is, we should have had a hell of a lot more goals than we have, and that has cost us. No doubt we will hear that I know nothing, not being a player (as it's often said on Twitter that 'fans' don't know what they are talking about) so it's just as well that the manager makes all decisions about players, and not the board.

Fair play Steve, atleast you put what you had to say to us fans............
Edit~ and obviously Chris, as i have the pleasure of knowing our "second in comand" i think the words that may have been used in the dressing room were rather more ..........................between me and Debbie cant think of the right words to describe what he would have said!!

So it does look like Rogans face didnt fit, Im not trying to put any player down but the bit that the form of Reidy and Millson made it hard for him to get in the team also leaves a bit to be desired as everytime Rogan came off the bench or started the odd game he looked a different class of player to them two (no offence meant), Rogan was a player that could actually get us playing proper football when we seemed to be stuck in the UCL hoof it style football, like I have said elsewhere he will be and should of been one of the first names on the team sheet every week a player that could definatly help us push for promotion rather than settle for that top 4 or 5 spot that we cant seem to beat.

Rogan was a reasonable player but he was not a ream player and had a few problems when not selected I think you could not put him in the same class has Millson.

^ ^ Its all about opinions and we all see different
strengths/weaknesses in players. I have to agree in that I
thought Rogan looked a level above but I have no experience
in football so do not see the bigger picture..Looking
forward to a new signing or two though...

I have played alongside rogan for march andat the time he always
worked hard for the team and I don't recall him missing many
sessions.im sure apps has his reasons for letting him go but I find it odd
that a manager would just come out and release him.a similar thing
happened last year at march.ondre odain joined and scored several
goals in a short space of time but couldn't attend training as often as
Brett would have liked.brett asked if he could make more sessions and
he couldn't so Brett released him.seems odd that apps didn't try to get
him to attend more sessions or ask if he could make more.maybe he
did but the Impression I get is that wasn't the case.

players coming and going is all part of football. people
need to back the management and move on. hopefully with
promotion at end of the season, if there is not promotion
and the season goes flat ask questions then. in the
meantime accept the decisions and move forward as a whole
club fans, players, staff and the board

We have little choice to do anything other than move on and the proof will be who we manage to bring in, but the plain facts are that the team has not performed that well since before Xmas and our last five home games have brought just 1 win, that is what has damaged our league position and will take a big effort to recover a top 4 spot now, let's hope who comes in has some quality otherwise the season will just peter out and the finances which are already in a difficult position will get worse with falling gates.

No need to panic yet. Given all that you have said, which is true, and looking at todays Thurlow Nunn Premiere League table, Brantham are top with 47 points from 22 games. We have 38 points from just 19 games. I know it's 'an if', but if we won those three games in hand, we would be top on goal differerence. The problem team for us, at the moment is Dereham. We only have two games in hand on them and we are 7 points adrift. Still have everything to play for, and in my personal (non-board member) opinion, Apps has done the right thing by taking tough action now. Hopefully we will hear the names of those replacements by the week-end.
As for 'the gates'; what better time to come along and watch your local team when they have just had a good shake-up, we have been without matches to watch for a while, and the team is under pressure to get back to winning ways if they really want promotion to step 4? From the sidelines, it looked to me as if Chris Bacon was so frustrated by certain team-mates that it affected his game. That should now not be a problem. We have got quality players who can take their game up to the next level. Now is the time for them to prove it to themselves.
